Run from burgers
Craving some chocolate, candy or other junk food? Get thee to a treadmill, and get moving. It may be enough to stave off the desire to eat poorly, a new study suggests.
According to researchers at the University of Aberdeen’s Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health in Scotland, which was published recently in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, one hour of running makes us less inclined to eat junk food.
To observe appetite responses, researchers used brain scans to examine the relationship between exercise and food choices.
“The key aim of our research was to examine the brain’s responses to highand low-calorie food following a period of acute exercise,” lead researcher Daniel Crabtree said.
