RESORT TO START MARINA CONSTRUCTION
Saskatchewan company Global Shelters Developments Ltd. announced today construction of the marina at their Sunset Acres Resort project on Last Mountain Lake Saskatchewan, will begin this spring. The first phase lake front lots have been selling since last fall. “Our plan is to work the resort design so every lot has some type of water feature. We are also grading all the marina backing lots for walk out basement homes” stated Barry Bickford, president of Global Shelters. The Company expects the marina lots to sell quickly as there are only 21 available. While construction of the marina and recreation pond area is planned to be a multi-year project, the plan could be accelerated if lot sales continue to go well. “We had a high level of interest come out of the Regina Spring Home Show and we are still following up on all the inquiries” Bickford quoted.
Wet spring conditions have hampered progress including delivery of the first show home, putting this part of the construction program about a month behind. The project is still moving along at a steady pace with the natural gas line expected to arrive this summer, the completion of Sunset Acres Road and Sunset Acres Lane to be a priority, and development of the boat launch and the beach area to be addressed once the marina is complete. “Surveyors are on the site as we speak” said Bickford. “They should have the balance of the approved subdivision surveyed and registered by the end of the month”.
The Company highlights an important component of the project is that all building lots are graded such that the construction of homes can easily meet or exceed the provincial flood elevation requirements. Many of the off-lake lots will be graded to accommodate walkout basements leading to a water feature.
Sunset Acres Resort is a new development off highway 20, on the east side of Last Mountain Lake Saskatchewan between Strasbourg and Govan, a little over an hour northwest of Regina.
