Former SREDA exec fined

-

A former top executive with the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority has been fined after admitting he did not file personal income tax returns for nine years.

Tim LeClair was to face trial Thursday, but entered a guilty plea Tuesday in provincial court to nine charges of failing to file a return between 2003 and 2011.

LeClair, who had been president and CEO of the authority, was fined $1,000 for each year he didn’t send in a return.

The authority’s board voted unanimously in March to remove LeClair as CEO.

Bruce Richet, the board’s chairman, said he can’t comment on the circumstances surrounding LeClair’s departure, but admitted the tax situation was a problem.

The authority expects to name a replacement by the year’s end.
