FEWER BUSES
In the story Higher enrolment drives need for buses (SP, May 8), I am left wondering why we are busing 10,000 students in Saskatoon. Apart from the buses required for the programs mentioned in the article, do we really need the massive arsenal of oil-consuming conveyances contributing to our planet’s downward spiral?
Perhaps the two public school divisions, Catholic and secular, could agree with each other to desist from enticing clientele through free (to them) busing.
Taking school buses off the road, not adding more, could offer a real opportunity to cut costs and environmental damage. BJ MacDonald Saskatoon
