Lottery home luxury

Putting the ‘grand’ in grand prize

- JENNIFER JACOBY- SMITH

Saskatoon’s Hospital Home Lottery officially launched this month with tons of prizes, but the big buzz, as always, is reserved for the grand prize show home. This year’s custom-built show home is worth $1.6 million.

Located in the Willows at 17-602 Cartwright St., the home boasts 4,270 square feet of developed living space, making it Saskatoon’s largest Hospital Home Lottery show home to date.

“It’s the biggest hospital home lottery home we’ve ever done,” said Vito Iula of Valentino Homes. “It’s a very high-end finish package in that house — custom cabinetry, custom millwork. The quality of the materials is as good as it gets. It just doesn’t stop in that house.”

Built by Valentino and designed by Atmosphere Interior Design, the home is one luxurious surprise after another. Inspired by a trip to the Bahamas, Atmosphere’s Curtis Elmy and Trevor Ciona incorporated intense blues, crisp whites and dark espresso wood flooring. Every last detail of the home has been carefully chosen to reflect an unparalleled refinement — from the custom cabinetry throughout the house to the high-end hardwood flooring.

Even the laundry room has a beautiful textured wallpaper.

Despite the high-end finishes, the design never overpowers the visitor. It’s still easy to picture yourself relaxing with a good book by the glimmering white tile fireplace in the great room, cooking up a delectable meal at the oversized island, hosting a party in the large entertainment room or working out in the exercise room. The upstairs bonus loft area looks like the perfect place to relax and unwind while watching a movie.

With French doors and a grand entrance, the master ensuite looks like it was plucked from a world-class spa with a gorgeous mosaic tile floor in blue and white, dual vanities, a standup shower and stand-alone tub.

Valentino Homes has done more than 10 homes for the Hospital Home Lottery and it’s a cause the company is happy to be part of.

“It’s such a wonderful thing. It’s such a great charity. For us as a business, knowing that the money stays in these three hospitals (Royal University Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital and City Hospital), we love being involved,” said Iula.

He adds the odds of winning are part of what makes their involvement so fun. For just $100, anyone could win a $1.6-million home at one of the most coveted addresses in the city.

The early bird deadline is March 27, with the final deadline for purchasing tickets April 10. The Hospital Home Lottery grand prize show home, at 17-602 Cartwright St., is open for viewing Monday to Friday from 6-9 p.m. and weekends and holidays from noon until 5 p.m.
