Hartenberger described as kind
REGINA — A statement emailed on behalf of the family and friends of Morley Hartenberger, the fifth person killed in a three-vehicle crash north of Regina a week ago, describes the Cupar man as a kind and considerate man family man.
An email was sent to news outlets on Monday by John Hopkins, speaking on behalf of the family and friends of 59-year-old Hartenberger.
“The friends and family of Morley Hartenberger would like to offer their deepest condolences to all who have been impacted by the horrible tragedy that took place on February 10, 2015,” the brief statement reads. “Morley was a kind considerate person who loved his family and friends. He had an unending love for motorcycles and the motorcycle culture with an unrelenting passion for his beloved Harley Davidson Softail Wide Glide, his prized possession.
“Morley worked at Evraz Place as a caretaker for close to 30 years. A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 at Evraz Place in Salon 1, 2 and 3 at 2 p.m. He will be deeply missed.
“The family would like to have their right to privacy respected during this time.”
Following the crash, Cupar’s mayor, Len Kallichuk, said Hartenberger was new to the town but remembered him as pleasant and quiet.
The crash occurred about 15 kilometres north of the city on Highway 6, killing five and injuring two others.
hose killed include Regina residents Michele Sereda, 49, and Lacy Morin-Desjarlais, 29, and Alberta residents Michael Green, 58, and Narcisse Blood, 60, as well as Hartenberger.
Sereda, Morin-Desjarlais, Green and Blood had been travelling together to the Piapot First Nation to deliver a drama program at the school.
