City plans summit on growth strategy

- PHIL TANK

While the City of Saskatoon continues to march toward doubling in size, residents will get another chance to learn more about the city’s plan and offer their opinions.

The city is staging a summit in March to introduce its plan for growth up to half a million people. The city has staged several events to gather residents’ input on the plan.

Key components of the plan include the introduction of a bus rapid transit system and a new vehicle bridge connecting 33rd Street on the west side of the South Saskatchewan River to land slated for development north of the University of Saskatchewan.

The summit is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on March 14 and will include several presentations as well as opportunity for public input. The summit is scheduled to last as late as 11 p.m. to hear from the public.
