Dash chooses Canada’s Beckie
The Houston Dash selected Canadian international forward Janine Beckie eighth overall in Friday’s National Women’s Soccer League draft. The 21-yearold is Texas Tech’s all-time leading scorer with 57 career goals. She scored 14 of those in 2015. The three-time all-American will join Canadian teammate Lauren Sesselmann in Houston. Beckie, who was born in Colorado to Canadian parents from Saskatchewan, has three goals in nine appearances for Canada. The Portland Thorns took defender/ midfielder Emily Sonnett of the University of Virginia first overall.
