Extreme cold warning issued for Saskatoon

Environmen­t Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the City of Saskatoon.

The warning, which was issued Friday around 3:40 p.m., advises people near or in the area of Saskatoon to be “on the lookout for adverse weather conditions.” As a result, residents are advised to take necessary safety measures while watching for updated weather statements.

Environmen­t Canada is predicting the wind chill to fall as low as -43 C overnight Friday and into Saturday, with low temperatur­es continuing through Saturday night.

The weekend forecast includes a high during daytime hours on Saturday of -24 C and wind chill -43 C, with the temperatur­e dipping to -29 C (and the wind chill hitting -40 C) overnight. On Sunday, the predicted high is -24 C with the low dropping to -27 C.
