CREATE YOUR OWN VISION OF SHANGRI-LA

- JEANNIE ARMSTRONG

Touring the five lifestyle-themed show suites at Shangri-La on 4th, North Prairie Development’s new downtown condominium project, is like taking a multiple choice personality quiz.

Each show suite is a unique lifestyle portrayal, says Krista Nakonechny, marketing and events coordinator with North Prairie Developments. The scenarios range from cosmopolitan glamour to urban nature.

Located at the corner of Queen Street and Fourth Avenue, Shangri-La features 94 apartment-style condominium suites, including three penthouses. The nine-storey tower is the first high-rise condo project to be constructed in downtown Saskatoon in seven years.

Shangri-La was designed to capture the excitement of downtown living, says CEO Andrew William. “North Prairie Developments is excited to be a part of the vitality of downtown Saskatoon. City centres are an important cornerstone of a vibrant cityscape. We are dedicated to be a leader in innovative infill developments in the downtown area for many years to come and have several other projects in the design phase.”

Shangri-La’s contemporary exterior includes unique hanging glass balconies with corrugated metal deck floors. The building’s crowning touch is a rooftop entertainment area with panoramic views of downtown Saskatoon.

Interior design pros Peggy Bedo and Shauna Kalthoff teamed up to create Shangri-La’s themed show suites.

The duo scoured local shops for the fascinating decor touches that bring each show suite to life, from paddle boards to vintage film canisters and boxing gloves.

“Having five show suites offers a good snapshot of the different floor plans, finishes and furniture placements that are available,” says Nakonechny.

Suite 202 is the 1,190-squarefoot two-bedroom “Glam Suite,” featuring elegant high gloss laminate cabinetry, quartz countertops, luxe lighting and sleek oak laminate floors. “This suite has an abundance of open concept space for entertaining,” says Nakonechny.

Across the hall, Suite 201 (598 square feet) will appeal to outdoor enthusiasts. The colour palette is inspired by nature, featuring soft grey, green and brown hues. The laminate flooring replicates the look of reclaimed heather oak.

Music lovers will feel at home in Suite 203, a 602-square-foot onebedroom unit. “This show suite has an eclectic, edgy feel. To maximize living space, we opted for sliding barn doors,” says Kalthoff.

“We created a lot of storage space within the compact footprint,” adds Nakonechny. “There are four closets as well as a built-in computer niche/charging station.”

Suite 204 is designed for the ultimate sports fan. The kitchen sizzles with high gloss grey cabinets, complemented by a stainless steel and Lamborghini red laminate island. In the living room, theatrestyle seating faces a wall of four flat screen TVs. The finishing touch? A putting green area rug.

Suite 205 transports you to a New York loft, featuring industrial-style lighting, a concrete island, coffee-toned hardwood oak floors and rolling barn doors. “The colour palette in this suite is a little darker, including the grey quartz countertops, glass tile backsplash and plastered concrete slab ceiling,” says Nakonechny.

Show suites at Shangri-La on Fourth are open Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from noon to 5 p.m. To view by appointment, call Realty Executives agent Kim Stevenson at 306-717-2695 or visit www.shangrilaon4th.ca.
