DuWors planning hometown recital
Violinist performs with pianist
Violinist Kerry DuWors returns to her hometown for a Gustin Series recital with pianist Futaba Niekawa. Known as duo526, the pair will perform Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata and works by Aaron Copland, Karol Szymanowski and Lili Boulanger.
The concert is Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 436 Spadina Cres.
Tickets are $35 regular, $30 for students, and free for anyone 12 and under if accompanied by an adult. They are available at McNally Robinson, Yamaha Piano, Saskatoon Academy of Music and at the door.
DuWors, daughter of track and field Olympian and Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame member Dr. Maureen Rever DuWors, earned violin performance degrees at the University of Victoria and the University of Toronto. She has performed on four continents, is on the faculty of Brandon University and is completing her doctorate in violin performance at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.
Niekawa, visiting assistant professor of collaborative piano at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, has her doctorate from Eastman School of Music and has performed internationally.
Duo526’s acclaimed debut recording is Ballade.
