LIVABLE LUXURY

D & S home a stylish standout

- JEANNIE ARMSTRONG

D& S Homes has built some of the city’s most noted luxury homes, including million-dollar lottery homes and acreage estates. Many of these stellar residences are located in the golf course community of Greenbryre Estates, also developed by D & S.

At its new show home in the northeast neighbourhood of Brighton, D& S Homes delivers livable luxury at an unexpected price point of $554,900.

The inviting 1,693 square foot two-storey is D& S Homes’ entry into the Brighton Parade of Homes, which extends along Secord Way.

“This is our first build in Brighton,” says Troy Slater, the company’s director of operations. “We have purchased a number of lots in Brighton, including lots that accommodate both attached and detached garages. We’re building a variety of houses in Brighton that will be in the range of $500,000 or less.”

Similar floor plans are also being constructed by D& S in its Martens Estates development in Martensville, priced in the $400,000 range.

D& S set out to impress when designing its Brighton parade home at 302 Secord Way. Curb appeal is assured with the home’s striking Prairie Modern exterior, composed of sophisticated grey vinyl and panel board siding and dark slate stone accents. The home is fully landscaped, front and back.

The main floor great room is the real scene stealer in this parade home. The decor is contemporary, featuring a crisp grey and white colour palette. Decorative grey wood beams add visual interest and draw attention to the elevated ceiling.

A linear natural gas fireplace ensures the living room is warm and cosy. White stone doesn’t just surround the fireplace, it extends along the entire wall.

The stylish kitchen is dressed in elegant white cabinets topped with slate grey quartz. “Built-in cabinets in the dining area eliminate the need for a stand-alone china cabinet, providing additional storage,” says Slater.

Three bedrooms are located upstairs, including the huge master suite boasting scenic park views. The ensuite is a posh comfort zone, with a heated tile floor, a custom walk-in shower and rolling barn doors.

“Walk-in closets continue to be a really important selling feature of our homes,” says Slater. “More than ever, people are opting to really customize their walk-in closets, adding built-in cabinetry and unique storage solutions.”

The parade home boasts innovative tech features, including a whole home audio system with independent streaming sources by Russound. “You can control the music separately in each room using a wall-mounted touchscreen, your tablet or your smart phone,” says Slater.

The home’s upgraded LED lighting package is also controlled through touchpad technology. “Instead of having a bank of unattractive light switches, there is a single easy-to-use touchpad,” says Slater.

Even the home’s heated garage has been upgraded, notes Slater. “It’s extra wide and extra long on one side, so a truck can be easily accommodated. We also opted for LED lighting in the garage.”

The Brighton Parade of Homes is open for viewing Monday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. For more details, visit www.dshomes.ca.
