RCMP looking for three suspects following La Ronge homicide

-

The RCMP are looking for three suspects, all believed to be men, in connection with the death of La Ronge restaurateur Simon Grant.

Police released still images from a video a surveillance camera located inside Grant’s restaurant, Louisiana’s Bar-B-Que.

According to police, the three men, all wearing black, entered the restaurant with a baseball bat and two handguns. RCMP believe they were in the restaurant for a very brief period of time — less than five minutes.

On Saturday night, Grant, 64, was assaulted inside his restaurant, which was closed at the time. An employee inside the restaurant, who was not harmed, called police.

Grant was taken to the hospital in La Ronge before he was transported to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, where he died from his injuries on Monday.

RCMP describe the first suspect as wearing a black balaclava, black hooded sweatshirt, dark-coloured pants or jeans and carrying a lightcoloured baseball bat.

The second suspect is described as wearing a black cap, black scarf, black hooded jacket and black pants with “BLACK” written across the front in white letters and white striping on the back of the lower legs. He was also wearing gloves and carrying a handgun.

The third suspect is described as also wearing a black balaclava, a black long-sleeved sweatshirt, dark pants or jeans and carrying a black duffle bag and handgun.

Police are urging anyone who saw vehicles or people leaving the area near Louisiana’s Bar-B-Que between 10:45 p.m.-11 p.m. on Saturday to contact them. Postmedia News
