SMALLER, CHEAPER PILOT LIKELY

- Driving.ca

Keen on filling the gap between its two bread-and-butter SUVs, Honda is reportedly planning a smaller Pilot.

Per WardsAuto (hat tip to Car and Driver) Honda is looking to shrink the Pilot to offer a shorter variant with two rows of seats, slotting between the CR-V and the standard Pilot. Not unlike how Hyundai sets up its Santa Fe lineup, a smaller Pilot would give Honda a more direct competitor to crossovers such as the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano, and has the potential to cut down the Pilot’s starting price by a fair amount.

Timing is still anyone’s guess, but as Car and Driver points out, Honda recently announced a US$85 million investment into its Lincoln, Alabama, plant for “future models.”
