Bottas finishes on top for first time in F1

-

Valtteri Bottas fended off hardcharging Sebastian Vettel and outshone Lewis Hamilton to claim his first Formula One win on Sunday in the Russian Grand Prix. Rookie driver Lance Stroll of Montreal placed 11th despite spinning out on the first lap for his first finish on the F1 circuit. “Just saw the checkered flag for the first time, which is nice,” Stroll said. “But disappointing with the spin.” Vettel’s secondplace finish meant the German extended his standings lead to 13 points over Hamilton, who finished fourth. Bottas is third, 10 points back.
