Builder fined after worker injured by falling trusses

-

A Winnipeg-based company was fined $39,200 for failing to ensure that one of its workers was properly trained.

The charge against Nu Fab Building stems from a Dec. 7, 2015, incident in which a worker sustained a “serious leg injury” after trusses fell off a trailer, according to the provincial government. One additional charge was stayed.

The company pleaded guilty in Saskatoon provincial court under Occupational Health and Safety legislation. The provincial government noted in a news release employers are responsible for ensuring employees are properly trained after they are hired, when their duties change or when new equipment is introduced.
