RCMP execute warrants in La Ronge
In continued attempts to combat serious crime in and around La Ronge, the Saskatchewan RCMP have conducted two crime reduction initiatives.
The RCMP Crime Reduction Strategic Response Team, partnered with members from the La Ronge detachment and Police Dog Services, executed 36 outstanding warrants totalling 100 charges.
The first 16 warrants were executed March 22-23 on 48 charges, with an additional six charges laid, including a breach of a conditional sentence order, a breach of conditional discharge and two firearms charges. Seventy-four checks were also completed during this time.
Twenty additional warrants were executed on 52 charges between May 16 and 17 with 110 checks completed. During this time RCMP laid four new charges including possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, two charges of failure to comply with undertaking and a charge of break and enter with intent.
RCMP also gave people the opportunity to voluntarily clear up any outstanding warrants May 18. Two people took advantage of the opportunity and were both released for court within an hour. Anyone with an outstanding warrant is also encouraged to stop in at the La Ronge detachment at their earliest opportunity.
The Saskatchewan RCMP ask that if you have a warrant, or know the whereabouts of someone who does, please call La Ronge RCMP at 306-425-6730 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800222-8477. You can also submit a tip online at saskcrimestopers.com or text a tip to 274637 by texting TIP 206 and your message.
