5 WAYS TO FILL YOUR WEEKEND
Hmmm. It’s a long weekend, we’ve got lots free time but we’re not sure what’s happening around the city. Well, here are a few ideas:
1. The big birthday party
Saturday is Canada Day and we would be remiss if we didn’t mention this. A boatload of activities are planned for the 150th birthday being celebrated locally at Diefenbaker Park. Things start at
8 a.m. and will go until the fireworks spectacular planned for 10:30 p.m.
2. All that jazz
The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival concludes this weekend. If you enjoy live music, there are plenty of options. Even a visit to the free stage and the beer garden would be time well spent.
3. Circus circus
The Royal Canadian Circus Under the Big Top is here for the weekend with performances at the Wyant Group Raceway. It starts today and runs through Monday. A highlight is the Duo Guerrero high wire act, which was seen last year on America’s Got Talent.
4. Way off Broadway
Willing to travel out of town for some theatre? Go see Jake and The Kid at the Barn Playhouse, 25 kilometres north of Saskatoon. It closes Sunday.
5. Go back in time
When was the last time you were at the Western Development Museum? It’s a great place to visit and step back in time to see how life on the prairies was way back when. A visit to the WDM also might get you out of the summer heat for a few hours, too. Something to consider.
