HALL, MACHIBRODA IN EAST-WEST BOWL

The University of Saskatchew­an Huskies football team is sending two defensive players to the U Sports Valero East-West Bowl on May 12 in Laval.

Defensive back Payton Hall, who recorded 30.5 tackles, one sack and four intercepti­ons during the 2017 season, will be attending.

He’ll be joined by defensive lineman Evan Machibroda, who made 22 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season.

DATE CHANGE FOR NLL WEST DIVISION FINAL

Originally scheduled for Thursday, May 10, the National Lacrosse League’s West Division Final will now take place in Saskatoon on Sunday, May 13 at 5 p.m.

The date change for the final was made at the request of the NLL to accommodat­e a prime broadcast window.

Tickets for the original date will be honoured for the Sunday game.

Fans have the option of requesting a refund.

RACQUETBAL­LERS MEDAL AT JUNIORS

Three Saskatchew­an racquetbal­l players are returning home with hardware from last weekend’s Canadian Junior Racquetbal­l Championsh­ips.

Saskatoon’s Marah Britto won gold in the girls’ 10U singles event and silver in the mixed 10U singles event, while Martensvil­le’s Ian Frattinger won gold in singles and silver in doubles play in the 16U boys’ division.

Macrorie’s Cassie Prentice won silver in the girls’ 16U singles and gold in the girls’ 18U doubles.

Frattinger and Prentice also qualified to represent Canada at the World Junior Championsh­ip in November.

BLADES NAMED

TOP SCHOLASTIC TEAM

The Saskatoon Blades were announced as the Western Hockey League’s Scholastic Team of the Year at the annual awards banquet on Wednesday.

Blades’ players in high school earned an average of 73.5 per cent at the end of the first semester, while second-year forward Chase Wouters earned the WHL’s Eastern

Conference Scholastic Player of the Year award.

TOP BULL RIDERS BACK IN TOWN

The Profession­al Bull Riders Monster Energy Canadian finals are returning to Saskatoon Nov. 23-24 for the ninth year in a row.

Riders attending the finals at SaskTel Centre will compete for points toward the world standings and a $30,000 purse. Tickets go on sale Friday at the SaskTel Centre box office, or online at ticketmast­er.ca or at PBRCanada.com.
