It’s the mid­dle of June al­ready and we have sum­mer on the brain. Here are some fun things to con­tem­plate for the week­end:

1. ’80s dance party

Two of the big­gest bands of the ’80s are at Dakota Dunes on Satur­day night. Wang Chung and The Cut­ting Crew will play their big­gest hits while they pull you down mem­ory lane. Big hair is op­tional. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Ev­ery­body have fun tonight ...

2. A night at the opera

Pa­trons of lo­cal opera will en­joy La Bo­heme when the pro­duc­tion hits the stage at Re­mai Arts Cen­tre on Satur­day for the open­ing night of the Saska­toon Opera’s ver­sion of the Puc­cini clas­sic. Other per­for­mance days are june 19, june 21 and June 23.

3. Two Spirit Pow­wow

The Bowl at the Univer­sity of Saskatchewan is the place on Satur­day for Re­vi­tal­iz­ing the Cir­cle: Saska­toon’s First Two spirit Pow­wow. It’s been de­scribed as an event to cre­ate a safe space for all, es­pe­cially Two Spirit peo­ple, to take part in cul­tural cel­e­bra­tions in gen­der af­firm­ing spa­ces. Grand en­try be­gins at noon.

4. Rollin’ on the river

Another event for the Saska­toon Pride Fes­ti­val is OUT on the River on Sun­day af­ter­noon. Trans­form­ing the Prairie Lily into the Pride Ferry, the cruise prom­ises to be a lot of fun, with food and drinks for those on board. Sail­ing time is 3 p.m.

5. Ride for dad

You might want to get your mo­tor run­ning for the an­nual mo­tor­cy­cle Ride For Dad event set for Satur­day. This is the 10th an­nual event, and a ma­jor fundraiser in the fight against prostate can­cer. A sunny morn­ing and a pan­cake break­fast will kick things off at 8 a.m. at the Western De­vel­op­ment Mu­seum. The big ride be­gins at 10:45 a.m. sharp.
