Canadian actresses Tatiana Maslany and Sandra Oh have been nominated for Emmy Awards. They each are up for best actress in a drama series.

Regina-born Maslany is nominated for playing multiple clones on Orphan Black, which aired its final season on Space last year. Ottawa-born Oh is named for playing a secret service operative on BBC America’s Killing Eve, which will debut in Canada on July 22 on Bravo. Maslany won an Emmy for Orphan Black in 2016.

Oh was previously nominated for five Emmys for Grey’s Anatomy, playing Dr. Cristina Yang for 10 seasons.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, hosted by the titular Toronto-born comedian, also received a nod for outstandin­g variety talk series.

Bee is also nominated for outstandin­g writing in a variety series, where two other Canadians are recognized, including Montreal’s Barry Julien, one of the writers on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and Lorne Michaels, creator of Saturday Night Live.

Martin Short, who grew up in Hamilton, Ont., is nominated along with collaborat­or Steve Martin for outstandin­g writing in a variety special for Netflix’s Steve Martin & Martin Short: An Evening You Will Forget For The Rest Of Your Life. Bee is also nominated in the category for a special in which she travelled with her show to Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria had devastated the island.

Toronto-born Jeremy Podeswa is up for an award for outstandin­g directing in a drama series for HBO’S Game of Thrones, a category in which Ottawa-born Kari Skogland is also competing in for Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

John Weber, who founded Toronto-based Take 5 Production­s, is part of the team nominated for best children’s program as an executive producer on the Netflix adaptation of A Series of Unfortunat­e Events.

Winnipeg-born film composer Mychael Danna is nominated for outstandin­g original main title music for The Last Tycoon.
