PICATIC SOLD

Eventbrite buys city-born ticket agency

- DAVE DEIBERT

A prominent ticketing and event company that was based in Saskatoon when it launched a decade ago has been purchased for an undisclosed sum by a billion-dollar San Francisco-based global ticketing and event platform.

Picatic, a ticketing and event registration platform now based out of Vancouver, was acquired by Eventbrite, which has processed $10 billion in gross ticket sales since it was founded and launched in 2006. The purchase of Picatic is expected to broaden Eventbrite’s operations in Canada, the companies said Wednesday in a joint statement.

Eventbrite, which offers many of the same services as Picatic, has offices in cities across the globe, including Nashville, London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Berlin, Melbourne and Sao Paulo.

“Events are deeply rooted in our company ’s DNA, and we share the same passion for live experiences as the team at Eventbrite,” said Jayesh Parmar of Saskatoon, the CEO and co-founder of Picatic.

“Joining forces brings tremendous value to our loyal customers, who will now benefit from Eventbrite’s powerful platform, robust feature set, and access to an extensive roster of (application programming interface) and distribution partners. We’re excited to share our talented development community and have a broader impact in the Canadian market and beyond …

“We share a genuine dedication to bringing people together through live experiences.”
