North Battleford woman wins Big
Staring at her lottery ticket, head spinning, Sandra Lee Frank didn’t immediately realize how much money she had just won — but she saw a lot of zeros.
After tucking the ticket away in her purse, stopping at her mother’s for a quick — if distracted — visit, and later checking the winning numbers online, the North Battleford resident confirmed what she had initially struggled to wrap her head around: Frank is the eighth Saskatchewan resident in 2018 to claim a lottery prize of at least $1 million.
“It’s surreal. You always hope for it, but you never think in a million years it will ever happen to you,” Frank said on Wednesday.
Frank won the $1 million guaranteed prize in the July 28 LOTTO 6/49 draw.
She purchased the winning ticket — a $14 quick pick for the July 25 and 28 draws — from the No Frills gas bar in North Battleford.
Another three recent milliondollar prizes — from the May 16 LOTTO 6/49, the June 8 Western Max and the June 16 LOTTO 6/49 — have yet to be claimed.
The Western Max ticket was sold in Saskatoon. Neither of the winning 6/49 tickets was sold in Saskatoon or Regina.
Frank said she plans to share the wealth with members of her immediate family and enjoy an early retirement with her husband.
“There’s a lot of possibilities,” Frank said with a smile at a news conference Wednesday in Saskatoon. “Very many possibilities.”
