A man caught luring a child over the internet before his sentence for child luring expired has pleaded guilty to seven charges.

Ethan James Fergusson, 28, entered guilty pleas in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench to two counts of child luring, one count each of sexual assault, obtaining the sexual services of a child, making and possessing child pornography and using the internet while prohibited. The offences stem from the years between 2008 and 2017. Police started investigating Fergusson after receiving a complaint that he was communicating online with a boy in May 2017.

Fergusson was sentenced in June 2016 to two years less a day in jail followed by three years of probation for luring a 14-year-old boy into sending him nude photos. He admitted creating fake social media accounts, where he pretended to be a teenage girl.

Most offenders receive statutory release after serving two-thirds of their sentences and continue to serve their jail terms in the community.

The child luring in May 2017 led to further investigation, resulting in another charge of child luring dating back to between 2014 and 2016.

Though his pleas, Fergusson admitted sexually assaulting a boy between 2008 and 2015 and making child pornography between 2011 and 2013.

An agreed statement of facts, containing the details of the investigation, has not yet been presented in court. The case is adjourned until November.
