More thought needed on trash

Saskatoon StarPhoenix - - OPINION -

Why would council even think about spending our tax dollars to buy new bins to replace bins we already have? Other than to punish households that have bigger families. Keep the bins we already have and change pickup to every two weeks as proposed and let that savings reflect on our taxes, to help pay for the organic waste bin.

If people have another bin for food and yard waste and have to pay for it they likely will use it, until the stink is unbearable. Isn’t that the idea of diversion? So why waste our tax dollars by buying bins we don’t need.

A 3.5-per-cent decrease in my taxes does not equal $75. My suggestion is stop wasting our tax dollars and put more thought into these terrible decisions. People are trying to help preserve our dump by recycling and will just throw glass in the garbage as we are now doing with plastic bags. It’s time to stop wasting our hard-earned money.
