5 WAYS TO FILL YOUR WEEKEND

-

October is about to come crashing to an end. That doesn’t mean we can’t find something to do this weekend. Here are a few options for enjoying life in our city:

1 Powwow

The FSIN Spirit of Our Nations Cultural Celebration and Powwow will have Sasktel Centre hopping. Grand Entry events are planned for 7 p.m. tonight, noon and 7 p.m. on Saturday and noon Sunday. There is a $10 entry fee per day or $20 for the weekend. It’s a great chance to take in the colour and appreciate the vibrancy of our Indigenous community.

2 Boo at the Zoo

If you’re looking for a way to get your kids in the Halloween mood, maybe the Children’s Festival Boo at the Zoo is something you need to attend on Sunday. Starting at 11 a.m. and running to 3 p.m. at the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo, the event includes trick or treat stations, games and other fun-filled activities for your kids. Admission is by donation.

3 Family Expo

The Saskatoon Family Expo runs Saturday at Prairieland Park. This event caters exclusively to families with all sorts of entertainment, displays and prizes available. It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a cost of $5 per person or $20 for a family pass.

4 Adults only

A musical and fun option for adults only both tonight and Saturday night is the Rosebud Burlesque Peek a Boo performance at Free Flow Dance Centre, located on 20th Street West. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.

5 Huskies hockey

Finally, the official opening of Merlis Belsher Place is tonight at 7 p.m. on the university campus. On the ice, the Huskies men’s team tangles with rival U of R Cougars once the pomp and pageantry concludes. The women’s team plays Saturday night with game-time at 7 p.m. again.
