What’s open and closed for Re­mem­brance Day

With Novem­ber 11 fall­ing on Sun­day, the statu­tory hol­i­day will be on Mon­day

Dur­ing Re­mem­brance Day events on Sun­day, Cana­di­ans will hon­our and re­mem­ber the brave men and women who served our coun­try.

Since it falls on a week­end this year, the City of Saska­toon is re­mind­ing res­i­dents that nu­mer­ous civic fa­cil­i­ties will be closed on Mon­day.

Re­mem­brance Day cer­e­monies at Sasktel Cen­tre are set to run from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saska­toon Tran­sit and Ac­cess Tran­sit will pro­vide free trans­porta­tion to and from the ser­vice, thanks to Royal Bank of Canada.

City Hall will be closed on Mon­day, but cheques and money-or­der pay­ments can be left in the drop box lo­cated out­side the main en­trance.

The mu­nic­i­pal im­pound lot will not re­lease ve­hi­cles to the pub­lic, and park­ing sta­tions through­out the city will not re­quire pay­ment on Mon­day. Mo­torists are ad­vised, how­ever, to re­spect posted park­ing lim­its.

The Saska­toon Land­fill will be open and op­er­at­ing on win­ter hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Sun­day and Mon­day. Garbage col­lec­tion will take place as reg­u­larly sched­uled on Mon­day.

The east and west com­post de­pots are closed for the sea­son as of to­day.

Re­main Mod­ern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan will be open on Sun­day and Mon­day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All branches of the Saska­toon Li­brary will be closed on Sun­day for Re­mem­brance Day, but will op­er­ate on reg­u­lar hours on Mon­day.

Saska­toon Tran­sit will op­er­ate with reg­u­lar week­end ser­vice on both Sun­day and Mon­day. Ac­cess Tran­sit will of­fer week­end ser­vice on Sun­day and hol­i­day ser­vice on Mon­day.

The City of Saska­toon re­minds res­i­dents that Ac­cess Tran­sit sub­scrip­tions do not ap­ply on statu­tory hol­i­days. The Tran­sit cus­tomer ser­vice cen­tre will be closed for walk-in cus­tomers on Sun­day, but phone lines will be open be­tween 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The cus­tomer-ser­vice cen­tre will be open reg­u­lar hours on Mon­day.

Saskatchewan Liquor and Gam­ing Au­thor­ity lo­ca­tions on Sec­ond Av­enue, in the Avalon Shop­ping Cen­tre and on Idyl­wyld Drive will be closed on Sun­day.

The Eighth Street, Law­son Heights Shop­ping Mall, Uni­ver­sity Heights and Con­fed­er­a­tion Drive lo­ca­tions will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Sun­day.

The Saska­toon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo will op­er­ate on reg­u­lar hours, with ad­mis­sion by do­na­tion due to the win­ter sea­son. Ice ren­tals for Saska­toon’s in­door are­nas start at noon on Re­mem­brance Day and will op­er­ate on reg­u­lar hours for pub­lic skat­ing on Sun­day and Mon­day.

The Cosmo Civic Cen­tre will be closed on Sun­day and open for reg­u­lar hours on Mon­day. The Harry Bai­ley Aquatic Cen­tre, Lake­wood Civic Cen­tre and Shaw Cen­tre will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Sun­day and for reg­u­lar hours on Mon­day.

Fit­ness classes and child mind­ing are can­celled at all lo­ca­tions on Sun­day.

The Terry Fox Track in­side SaskTel Sports Cen­tre will be closed both days.

The Law­son Civic Cen­tre will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sun­day. Saska­toon Field House will be closed due to a planned power out­age on Sun­day and have reg­u­lar hours on Mon­day.

All six of the city’s civic cen­tres will op­er­ate un­der reg­u­lar hours on Sun­day.
