Woman Tasered, charged af­ter traf­fic stop

Saska­toon po­lice used a Taser to sub­due a 25-year-old woman af­ter a traf­fic stop in­volv­ing a stolen ve­hi­cle.

On Thurs­day around 8:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Av­enue L South, of­fi­cers stopped a ve­hi­cle that was be­lieved to be stolen. As they ap­proached it, the woman be­hind the wheel tried to drive away, po­lice said in a news re­lease.

Po­lice used a Taser and took the driver into cus­tody.

Two men in the ve­hi­cle were ar­rested but later re­leased with­out charges.

The woman is charged with pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty, ob­struc­tion and breach of a court or­der.

Po­lice will re­view the Taser de­ploy­ment in ac­cor­dance with pol­icy.
