Four members of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s hockey team have been chosen for the U Sports All-stars who’ll face Hockey Canada’s world junior prospects in Victoria, B.C. from Dec. 12-14.

U of S defenceman and team captain Jesse Forsberg will be joined by forwards Kohl Bauml, Carson Stadnyk and Wyatt Johnson.

The U Sports All-stars will play a three-game series against Team Canada. Games will take place Wednesday, Dec. 12, Thursday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 15. Games are scheduled at The Q Centre, home of the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Victoria Grizzlies.

Stadnyk leads the Huskies in scoring with eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 16 games, followed by Bauml, who has 17 points with five goals and 12 assists.

Wyatt Johnson has five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 13 games thus far for Saskatchewan, which leads the Canada West conference with a 14-2-0 record and 28 points — three points better than the rival University of Alberta Golden Bears, who are ranked No. 2 in the nation while Saskatchewan is ranked No. 3.

Forsberg ranks third among all Canada West conference defencemen in scoring with 12 points (two goals and 10 assists). He’s sixth among Huskies.

This will mark the fourth straight year Canada’s national junior team prospects will play the U Sports All-stars, all of whom have CHL experience. The teams have split the last six contests.

Calgary Dinos head coach Mark Howell will act as the head coach behind the bench. He’ll be joined by returning assistant and Ottawa Gee-gees head coach Patrick Grandmaître, along with UNB Reds head coach Gardiner Macdougall and Regina Cougars head coach Todd Johnson.

Saskatchewan will resume Canada West conference play Jan. 4-5 in Calgary against the host Dinos. The Huskies won’t play at home again until Jan. 12 when the provincial rival Regina Cougars come to town.
