Rylan Kleiter made short work of Tyler Camm in the 2019 provincial junior men’s curling championship final Monday, finishing the game off in only six ends with a convincing 13-4 victory at Sutherland Curling Club.

Kleiter and his rink of Trevor Johnson, Joshua Mattern and Matthieu Taillon counted seven in the sixth end to clinch the win and earn a spot in the 2019 New Holland Canadian junior men’s curling championship Jan. 19-27 at Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert.

The winners will represent Canada at the 2019 world junior curling championships in Liverpool, N.S.

Kleiter’s crew went undefeated this past week — out-scoring opponents 67-30 in seven games — at the host Sutherland Curling Club, where both Kleiter and Camm are members.

Kleiter and his teammates are three-time reigning Saskatchewan junior men’s champions.

Kleiter is also a member of the Saskatoon Hilltops and a multiple Canadian Bowl championship winner.

The Camm rink consists of skip Tyler Camm, Gavin Steckler, Caid Brossart and Andrew Derksen.

In the provincial junior women’s curling championship final, Regina’s Rachel Erickson defeated Moose Jaw’s Skylar Ackerman 5-3 Monday in Saskatoon.

Erickson went 6-1 in the provincial bonspiel, outscoring opponents 53-28.

Erickson and her rink of Sara England, Sarah Hoag and Jade Goebel will now advance to the 2019 New Holland Canadian junior women’s curling championship, also Jan. 19-27 at the Art Hauser Centre Arena in Prince Albert.

England skipped the 2018 provincial junior women’s champions on a team with Shelby Brandt, Stasia Wisniewski and Rayann Zerr.
