Rush move into first place with win

-

Ben Mcintosh’s second straight five-goal game helped propel the Saskatchewan Rush to their first road victory of the season, with a 14-10 win over the host Vancouver Warriors on Saturday.

The Rush improve to 2-1, tied for first place in the National Lacrosse League’s Western Division.

Mcintosh added three assists for an eight-point effort while teammate Mark Matthews had seven points with two goals and five assists and Robert Church tallied six assists.

The Rush chased former teammate Aaron Bold from the Vancouver net after scoring the first four goals on seven shots less than five minutes into the game.

The Warriors got back into the game, tying it at 8-8 just over a minute into the second half, but the Rush then scored six of the final eight goals to close out the game.

Several Rush recorded milestones with Mcintosh picking up his 300th career NLL point while Jeff Shattler scored his 300th career goal. Jeremy Thompson also became only the fourth player in NLL history to record 1,500 faceoff wins.

The Rush return to Sasktel Centre on Saturday with an NLL Cup rematch at 7:30 p.m. against the Rochester Knighthawks, before heading to Georgia on Jan. 27 to take on the Swarm.
