Saskatoon police are investigating two unrelated shooting incidents after two people were sent to hospital with gunshot wounds over the weekend.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to 20th Street and Avenue R, where a man was reported to have been injured, police said in a news release. When they found the man at St. Paul’s Hospital, he was suffering from a wound that was not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

The 23-year-old man told police he was walking in the area when he was shot by two men dressed all in black. He was able to run to the hospital for help.

Earlier on Friday night, police were called to the 600 block of Confederation Drive where a 28-year-old woman was suffering from a gunshot wound.

She told police she had been in a parking lot in the area when a man attempted to engage her in conversation before he got upset with her, pulling out a firearm and shooting her.

Police said the woman was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening by Medavie ambulance staff. Police said the suspect is described as sixfoot-three, with blue or green eyes and two gold front teeth.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey hoodie, pants and hat.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Saskatoon police or Crime Stoppers.
