FAIRBURN, Geraldine (Gerry)

-

June 8, 1934 - March 7, 2019 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Geraldine Dorothy Fairburn: better known as "Gerry" to her friends and family. Gerry was born in Saskatoon on June 8, 1934, and passed away peacefully on March 7, 2019, with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Katherine Werschner, and her husband Jim. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter, Kelly (Mike) and son, Gavin (Penny); five grandchildren Michael (Jessica), Brieanna (Geoff), Brittany (John), Sean, and Holly; and three great grandchildren Emma, Stephen, and Ayden; her sister, Darlene and brothers, Don (Harriet) and Dave (Carol). Gerry grew up on a farm just outside of Saskatoon and later attended Marvel Beauty Salon. Her career in hairdressing changed the day she got into a taxi, not knowing that the driver would be the love of her life, Jim. They were soon married and began raising their family in Saskatoon. Together they enjoyed traveling and camping with the Sunseeker group. Knitting and baking pies, that were enjoyed by many, was a favorite past time. In later years, after Jim's passing, she moved into Luther Towers in Saskatoon. She was well known to everyone as the smiling face in the lobby, having coffee with close friends and family. Gerry loved her time at Luther Towers. She was full of life and was a social butterfly, always quick with a smile and eagerly awaited the next opportunity to visit with friends, watch the Riders, or any curling bonspiel. Gerry always met her life's many health challenges with a positive attitude. She will be missed. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation for the staff at both Luther Towers and Luther Care team for making Gerry feel part of a bigger family and taking care of her so well. A celebration of life will be held on March 27, 2019, at 2:00 pm on the 22nd floor at Luther Towers located at 1223 Temperance Street Saskatoon.
