STARS ALIGN IN CITY

As we motor through March, let’s focus on so many good things around us in Saskatoon. This weekend proves once again there is no shortage of events to keep us busy:

1 Canadian funnyman Gerry Dee takes to the stage Friday night at TCU Place. The star of the CBC sitcom, Mr. D, brings his brand of humour to the city in a show that starts at 8 p.m.

2 Those of a certain vintage can recall rock classic songs such as One Fine Morning and Sunny Days will be happy to hear Canadian rock legends Lighthouse will perform Friday night at the Broadway Theatre. The band is touring to celebrate its 50th birthday. My, how time flies. Show time is 8 p.m.

3 Billed as Broadway’s highheeled hit, Kinky Boots has arrived in Saskatoon for two performances Saturday and Sunday at TCU Place. Using the music of pop icon Cyndi Lauper, the fun-filled play is sure to entertain. A matinee and evening show are scheduled for Saturday with another matinee on tap for Sunday.

4 The Saskatchewan Rush are back in Saskatoon on Saturday when the Vancouver Warriors come a-callin’. A win will secure the Rush a playoff spot once again. Game time at Sasktel Centre is 7:30 p.m.

5 Let’s end with another sports idea. Rogers Hometown Hockey featuring Ron Maclean and Tara Slone takes over a chunk of downtown on 21st Street East both Saturday and Sunday. Special guests, including Wendel Clark, Brenden Morrow and the Stanley Cup, will offer Saskatonians the chance to enjoy what the NHL has to offer up close. Fan-based activities are planned starting at noon on Saturday and carrying through to Sunday evening and the Rogers Hometown Hockey outdoor viewing party of the game between the Calgary Flames and San Jose Sharks.

It was just an easy thing to do just to support people who do have it.
