Driver fined $1,515 for going 214 km/h
A driver pulled over by the Saskatchewan RCMP had a costly Christmas after being caught speeding at more than double the limit on a Saskatchewan highway. Saskatchewan RCMP posted a photo of the traffic stop on Twitter on Dec. 24. The driver was pulled over for travelling
214 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 12 near Hepburn, Sask. the day before Christmas Eve, according to the post. According to the Twitter post, the driver received a $1,515 fine and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. It’s not the only case of high speed leading to sky-high fines in the province this year. A driver in Saskatoon was fined more than $1,600 for going 212 km/h in a 90 km/h zone in city limits back in February, less than a week after a repeat speeder appeared in court for driving 180 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near Aberdeen last December. That fine was $1,450.
