1. Relax with Netflix

Finding what to watch can be a hassle — so skip the hard work with these suggestions. For those looking to laugh, Kim’s Convenience is a great Canadian sitcom, or you could try Marc Maron’s new comedy special, aptly named End Times Fun — either should do the trick. For those looking for some grit and suspense, give Babylon Berlin a shot — the series, based in 1929 Berlin, is an oft-overlooked gem ready to sweep you into a world of intrigue.

2. Enjoy a podcast

Podcasts are a great way to enjoy a story while keeping your hands, and eyes, free. A personal favourite is Our Fake History — which looks at historical stories and myths and explores, through historical detective work, what’s fact and what’s fiction. And of course for true crime fans, the Starphoenix podcast She’s Gone will transport you through the stories of four Saskatchewan women who were victims of violent crime.

3. Start a new book

Whether you are willing to head out to the library or bookstore, or stay at home with an audio or e-book, there are a ton of options. The Saskatoon Public Library even offers these digital options through apps. Enjoy a classic like Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World or Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments — a sequel to the ever-popular Handmaid’s Tale.

4. Cook something new

Experiment with some new flavours with help from the Youtube cooking show Binging With Babish. No matter what you have in the fridge, or even your skill level in the kitchen, there is a recipe for everyone — with many actually inspired by dishes created in TV shows and movies.

5. Do some crafting

Crafting is a great way to keep kids busy, and there are a few great options to be created with things you already have lying around the house. Use some elastics, jar lids and heavy cardboard to create a mini banjo or help them create custom crayons using some broken crayons, optional glitter and some silicone moulds to melt them into new, fun shapes.
