Q How do you get citizens to abide by social-distancing policies when asking politely doesn’t work?

-

A In one northern India city, police are making citizens who break lockdown hold signs with such sayings as “I am a friend of coronavirus,” or “I am the enemy of society,” and posting their photos on Twitter. There are obvious downsides to this approach. When mosque worker Mohammad Alim went to a police station to report an altercation with neighbours, “the inspector handed me that shaming sign and clicked my picture,” Other violators’ signs read “I do not believe in the law of the country” and “I do not care about my family or society.”
