KINAHAN, Blanche

-

It is with hearts full of love that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Blanche Kinahan (nee Abels) on May 17, 2020. Mom is survived by her six children: Marylin Harder (Garry), Sandra Bland (Ron), Louise Mcconaghy (Dan), Denis, Colin, and Mary Jane (MJ) Kinahan (Darryn Eliasson). Blanche is also mourned by eight grandchildren: Tamara Harder (Deron Staffen), Heather Preston (James), Erin Munn (Jarret), Keely Bland (Johnathan Brammall), Karen Mcconaghy (Ian Reeve), Joel Mcconaghy, Megan Eliasson, Trevor Eliasson; and five great-grandchildren: Penelope Preston, Tycho Preston, Thomas Reeve, Owen Reeve, Emily Munn. Blanche was predeceased by her husband Bill Kinahan and daughter-in-law Diane Kinahan. Mom was born on September 6, 1923 at her parents’ farm near Leask, SK and later moved to Saskatoon to work. Blanche and Bill were married at St. Paul’s Cathedral on August 5, 1950. They moved to the Kinahan farm and started their life together. Mom was active in both the church and the community, but her main focus was her family. She always worked hard but was well known for her total family dominance in Chinese Checkers games, her extensive vegetable and flower garden, and her truly excellent homemade bread and buns. In Mom’s eyes though, her greatest accomplishment was her family and seeing all of them receive a post-secondary education gave her immense satisfaction. After Bill’s death, Blanche moved to Saskatoon where she made new friends. Going for power walks and afternoon coffee at Market Mall became part of her routine. Blanche’s family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care and support she received at both Quality Care and Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre during the last two years. A Memorial Service will be held and announced at a later time. Arrangements in care of David Schurr - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200 www.mourningglory.ca
