Man, youth arrested in sex assault involving teen girl

-

A 23-year-old man and a 17-yearold boy from Saskatoon have been arrested on charges of sexual assault, child pornography and voyeurism after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted along the riverbank and left in “a vulnerable state” earlier this month.

The girl was reported to have been picked up from her home around midnight on June 7 and taken to a location along the riverbank where she was encouraged to consume alcohol, the city police said in a media release.

She was then sexually assaulted by two males and left there. A passerby discovered her “some time later” and called for help, the release stated.

The girl has since recovered from her physical injuries, police said.

A bail hearing was held Tuesday morning in Saskatoon provincial court for 23-year-old Mohammad Kouman. Judge Bruce Bauer denied his release, setting his case over to July 15.

Details from the bail hearing are protected by a court-ordered publication ban.

Police said investigators believe there may be other girls or women in the community victimized in a similar way and are asking anyone with information to contact police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
