Spielberg scores Netflix deal

-

Steven Spielberg has signed a deal to make movies for Netflix. The director and Amblin Pictures will create what are expected to be multiple movies each year for the streaming giant, as well as continue producing content for longtime studio partner Universal Pictures. The announcement marks an apparent change of heart for Spielberg. In 2019, when Alfonso Cuarón's Netflix film Roma won three Oscars, Spielberg suggested Academy Awards rules should be changed to exclude films that debut on streaming services, arguing they should be eligible for TV awards like the Emmys instead.
