THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND AROUND TOWN
Spring in Saskatoon means melting snow and changes in the arts scene. Jocelyn Bennett says there are a variety of events to take in over the next few days. 1. See a collaborative exhibition
Remai Modern hosts Live Editions: Jillian Ross Print Studio Party in the Connect Gallery on Friday at 7 p.m. Experience the gallery as a working print studio as it introduces the latest exhibition. With a new photogravure series and short films by William Kentridge, works by Jillian Ross Print and Prairie Braids by Wally Dion, the exhibition highlights the significance of Ross's work as a collaborative printmaker. 2. Learn how the art museum runs
Remai Modern hosts a special screening of Behind-the-scenes at Remai Modern: The Making of an Exhibition. A short documentary, the film follows museum staff as they navigate artist requests while installing three different exhibitions for visitors to view and enjoy. The free screening is Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sasktel Theatre. A Q&A with museum staff will follow. Learn more at remaimodern.org.
3. Embrace teacher appreciation
Wanuskewin Heritage Park hosts Teacher Appreciation Weekend. Enjoy cultural programming, an artisan market, a powwow dance, raffle and door prizes, and teacher-focused information sessions on supporting Indigenous connections for students. Events run Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Wanuskewin, with free admission for educators. Learn more at wanuskewin.com.
4. Engage with an artist in a dance studio
