WILLIAMSTOWN, Ontario – Despite the rain, Kicks for a Cause was a great success. The annual fundraising soccer tournament took place at Williamstown Public School on Saturday, June 23.

“Day went great other than a couple temporary showers,” said organizer Colton Gallant. “Great turnout and support for the event. We were able to raise $2,700 after expenses that we will be able to donate to Beyond 21.”

Gallant explained that he had a great team that worked together to make this year’s event a success.

The winning team from this year’s tournament were the Wingmen, who took home the trophy, which looked very similar to the FIFA World Cup trophy.

“It is all for a good cause,” said Gallant, who has worked with Beyond 21 in the past. “Considering they don’t get government funding, what they are doing is pretty awesome.”

In all, around 16 teams participated in the tournament.

Wingmen captain Michael Macleod holds the tournament trophy with event organizer Colton Gallant.
