NEWS R.H. Saun­ders Power Dam cel­e­brates 60th an­niver­sary

CORN­WALL, On­tario - Wa­ter was not the only thing flow­ing through the R.H. Saun­ders Power Dam on Satur­day, as vis­i­tors were able to tour the fa­cil­ity on their 60th An­niver­sary on Satur­day, June 23.

The power gen­er­at­ing sta­tion which is nor­mally closed off to the pub­lic for safety rea­sons opened its doors for the cu­ri­ous hearted to see for the day what goes on at the plant.

“We are treat­ing this as, not only an op­por­tu­nity to cel­e­brate the an­niver­sary but we also want to ed­u­cate peo­ple,” ex­plained plant man­ager Brent Sta­jkowski, “It gives peo­ple a chance to see in­side this build­ing and ask ques­tions.”

Al­most 700 peo­ple were able to make the trip through the fa­cil­ity safely, vis­it­ing the gen­er­a­tors, con­trol rooms, and play­ing with the cranes.
