U-99 Women win gold U16 girls softball team places fourth in On­tario

LAKESHORE - The Se­away Val­ley Soc­cer Club U-99 Women won gold in Lakeshore Aug. 18-19. The girls went un­de­feated in 5 games scor­ing 25 goals for and al­low­ing 1 against.

Goal scor­ers for the week­end were Michelle Dere­pentigny with 10, Myri­ram Le­feb­vre - 5, Brook­lyn Wood­side - 4, sin­gles to Kylie Holiday, Ly­dia Shayler, Rylee Leger, Chloe Dubeau, Ce­line Dere­pentigny, Abi­gail Smith.

Lo­gan Leger for play­ing goal in the semis & fi­nal al­low­ing the team to field 10 play­ers.

The girls would like to thank their gen­er­ous spon­sors for their con­tin­ued sup­port, Dr. Steve Deneka - Corn­wall Den­tal Arts, Dr. Peter Tro­pea - St. Law­er­ence Val­ley An­i­mal Hospi­tal, Gilles Dubeau - Dubeau Poul­try Farms, Rayco Sports.

BRANTFORD, On­tario - The Shoe­less Joe’s Corn­wall Girls U16 Se­lects Softball team went un­de­feated in round robin and quar­ter-fi­nal ac­tion at the On­tario Se­lects Softball Tour­na­ment As­so­ci­a­tion Provin­cials in Brantford, On­tario on Au­gust 18th and 19th. The coach­ing staff was very proud of the over­all ef­fort with bal­anced of­fence and de­fense by all of the team’s 10 play­ers. Fri­day night prac­tices over the spring and sum­mer paid off with a 4th place fin­ish in On­tario.

A spe­cial thanks to Kevin Larkin and Last­ing Im­pres­sions Land­scap­ing for be­ing a ma­jor spon­sor for the team. It was a week­end that play­ers and par­ents will re­mem­ber for­ever and the vi­sion for next sea­son has al­ready be­gun.

In­di­vid­u­als play the game, but teams beat the odds…and our Corn­wall Kins­men Mi­nor Softball girls sure did!
