Chief Voisine named Fire Chief of the Year
CORNWALL, Ontario - Cornwall Fire Chief Pierre Voisine was named Career Fire Chief of the Year by the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC).
Voisine was presented with the award on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.
“The City of Cornwall is very proud of its very busy and active fire department, very very well lead by our Fire Chief Pierre Voisine,” said Councillor Bernadette Clement in a tribute video for Chief Voisine. “He brings great energy to his leadership role. Great, modern approach to communication with the community in terms of increasing awareness around fire safety. And he is also somebody who thinks long term. He plays a direct role in that future of Cornwall and we greatly appreciate his energy and talent as Fire Chief for the City of Cornwall.”
Voisine became Fire Chief in Cornwall in April 2015. Before entering his role in Cornwall, Voisine worked for the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Fire Marshal’s Office where Voisine lead the creation of an armoured vehicle extrication program for Canada’s soldiers in Afghanistan and its NATO allies. He was responsible for the contracting of the inspection, testing and maintenance of firefighting equipment for the entire Department of National Defense.
