Chief Voi­sine named Fire Chief of the Year

CORN­WALL, On­tario - Corn­wall Fire Chief Pierre Voi­sine was named Ca­reer Fire Chief of the Year by the Cana­dian As­so­ci­a­tion of Fire Chiefs (CAFC).

Voi­sine was pre­sented with the award on Wed­nes­day, Sept. 19, 2018.

“The City of Corn­wall is very proud of its very busy and ac­tive fire department, very very well lead by our Fire Chief Pierre Voi­sine,” said Coun­cil­lor Ber­nadette Cle­ment in a trib­ute video for Chief Voi­sine. “He brings great en­ergy to his lead­er­ship role. Great, mod­ern ap­proach to com­mu­ni­ca­tion with the com­mu­nity in terms of in­creas­ing aware­ness around fire safety. And he is also some­body who thinks long term. He plays a di­rect role in that fu­ture of Corn­wall and we greatly ap­pre­ci­ate his en­ergy and tal­ent as Fire Chief for the City of Corn­wall.”

Voi­sine be­came Fire Chief in Corn­wall in April 2015. Be­fore en­ter­ing his role in Corn­wall, Voi­sine worked for the Department of National De­fense and the Cana­dian Fire Mar­shal’s Of­fice where Voi­sine lead the cre­ation of an ar­moured ve­hi­cle ex­tri­ca­tion pro­gram for Canada’s soldiers in Afghanistan and its NATO al­lies. He was re­spon­si­ble for the con­tract­ing of the in­spec­tion, test­ing and main­te­nance of fire­fight­ing equip­ment for the en­tire Department of National De­fense.
