SOUTH STOR­MONT ELEC­TION RE­SULTS: Bryan Mcgil­lis elected Mayor

SOUTH STOR­MONT, On­tario - Bryan Mcgil­lis has been elected Mayor in South Stor­mont.

Mcgil­lis had pre­vi­ously served as Mayor of South Stor­mont from 2006-2014. He was de­feated for re-elec­tion by Jim Ban­croft in 2014. Ban­croft de­cided not to seek re­elec­tion this time around.

Mcgil­lis ran against Deputy Mayor Tammy and Chris Bon­neville on a plat­form of trans­parency.

“As head of coun­cil I will im­prove com­mu­ni­ca­tions to the ratepay­ers by ask­ing the me­dia to be present again,” Mcgil­lis said in a writ­ten state­ment. “I will en­cour­age coun­cil to al­low the head per­son of each de­part­ment to make re­ports at all coun­cil meet­ings which is no longer hap­pen­ing.”for Deputy Mayor, Hart will be re­placed by Coun­cil­lor David Smith, who ran against Coun­cil­lor Richard Wal­droff.

For the Coun­cil po­si­tions, Jen­nifer Macisaac, Cindy Woods and An­drew Guin­don won po­si­tions around the ta­ble. Coun­cil­lor Donna Primeau did not win re-elec­tion.
