Late night house fire in St. An­drews West

ST. AN­DREWS WEST, On­tario – No one was in­jured dur­ing a house fire in the vil­lage of St. An­drews West on Sun­day, Novem­ber 18.

Ac­cord­ing to South Stor­mont Fire Chief Gilles Cre­peau, fire­fight­ers from the Long Sault and St. An­drews West sta­tions were paged to a fully in­volved fire at 11:15 p.m.

“The house was fully in­volved on our ar­rival,” said Chief Cre­peau. “We had to (be­gin) a de­fen­sive at­tack im­me­di­ately.”

“There were 23 fire­fight­ers, two pumps, two tankers and two res­cues were on the scene,” he added.

Corn­wall SDG Para­medic Ser­vices and SD&G O.P.P. were also on the scene.

No oc­cu­pants of the Haughton St. res­i­dence were home at the time of the fire. The house was fully in­sured.

The home owner, who was out of town at the time of the fire, is aware of the in­ci­dent.

Fire of­fi­cials are still in­ves­ti­gat­ing the cause of the blaze.
