Brett Kissel outdid himself at the Centennial

- Country Connection Jessie Aulis

It was on the stormy Tuesday, January 24 that Brett Kissel performed at the Centennial Theatre in Lennoxville. The hall was packed with fans and Kissel really outdid himself presenting material from his albums but also offering brand new songs and a few covers. The Ice, Snow and 30 Below tour came with the right weather, while it was cold and icy outside, inside the artist, the musicians and the crowd were in fire.

I have seen Kissel on stage many times but really this show was amazing. The young man is in perfect control of his artistry and he owns the stage. He has the ability to interact with his fans and make them feel as if they were personal friends.

Bravo to Firehouse Productions Inc. for their wonderful work. This time around part of the proceeds will go to the Rotary Club.

Gayle a member of the Opry Country singer Crystal Gayle was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on January 23, 2017 at the Ryman Auditorium. Her sister, Opry legend Loretta Lynn did the honours. Gayle made her Opry debut half a century ago on the Ryman stage, singing the country classic “Ribbon of Darkness.” She was 16.

She was invited to become a member by Opry member Carrie Underwood last November. “We’ve been together a long time, honey. And we’ve never had a fight,” Lynn said to her sister that night.

“It was the greatest moment of my life when they made me a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1962. I know she is just as happy as I was then.”

“Being a member of the Opry is just incredible,” said Gayle of her induction. ‘It’s really hard to comprehend. I have felt like a part of the Opry for all these years. Now, I’m official.’

It is hard to say why it took all these years but her fans are happy that she is finally a member in good standing.

Luke Bryan on ‘The Voice’ Luke Bryan will mentor Team Blake Shelton during “The Voice” Season 12. “I enjoy being in the moment with those artists and in my gut feeling, tell them the best thing I can tell them and really lift them up,” Bryan said to the Tennessean.

“I think people don’t realize that I moved to town, wrote songs and got a record deal. Early in my career, I was so nervous about big moments, I didn’t even enjoy them. I just want to help these people settle into who they are and enjoy the moment.”

The Tennessean reports that Bryan’s “The Voice” episode was taped in Los Angeles the week of January 16.

“Once he realized he was getting wrapped up in it, Luke was showing them dance moves and things to do,” Shelton shares with the Tennessean. “That’s what happens, though. At some point, you realize, ‘I’m an artist, no one ever really listens to what we have to say because it’s our one thing we can do.’”

Always, according to the Tennessean, Shelton invited Bryan to mentor his
