STS, ACET form tech development agreement

-

The Sherbrooke Transportation Corporation (STS) and the Accelerator for the Creation of Technology Enterprises (ACET) have announced the conclusion of a partnership to stimulate the development of technologies promoting intelligent mobility and create businesses and jobs in a future-oriented field that will enable VERMEILLE, Sherbrooke’s smart mobility brand to be achieved while improving the mobility experience within the STS network and the Sherbrooke community.

As a result of the agreement, the STS and ACET are joining forces to foster entrepreneurial culture and innovation, making smart mobility a source of added value in terms of transportation, but also in terms of value added and wealth, given the immense commercial possibilities it offers in terms of promotion and customer loyalty programs. To achieve this, ACET accompanies and supports entrepreneurs who wish to start their own technology companies and will add smart mobility as a strategic component of its development. The desire is to encourage the Sherbrooke business community to design and implement projects that will focus on the optimization of travel through technology.

This strategic alliance is part of the STS commitment to further improve its customer experience by offering high quality integrated, intelligent, and personalized mobility services under the VERMEILLE brand. STS President Bruno Vachon stressed that "this partnership with ACET will enable Sherbrookers to appreciate the positive effects of connected and sustainable mobility. Today we are giving ourselves the means to mobilize the vital forces of our community and our region around an initiative that promises to be very promising given the exceptional quality of our researchers and entrepreneurs.”

One of the main objectives of the partnership is to commercialize the knowledge generated in the academic world and make it accessible to the general public through the creation of innovative companies. According to ACET President and CEO Ghyslain Goulet, "ACET’S strength lies in the consolidation of successful partnerships, such as the one with STS. This collaboration represents a strong development potential, both economic and technological, which will facilitate very interesting synergies between various key players to develop and carry out innovative, inspiring, and profitable projects for the Sherbrooke community as a whole."
