We got robbed on St. Jean Baptiste holiday

-

friend’s house.

We took our purses out of the trunk. When one of us looked at her wallet she realized that her cash was gone. Then we all found out that none of us had any cash left. We reported to police and we were told that the thieves probably intercepted our remotes when we locked our cars. The locks of the trunks were not manipulated so our cars were never locked although we are absolutely sure we locked the cars before we left for our walk.

Are there criminals hiding in the bush at the trailhead waiting for victims who want to walk the trail like us? We had a combined $1,000 in cash in our purses. Insurance won't reimburse the cash — and that’s all they took. Our credit cards and cell phones were still in our purses. A bad ending of a nice day. If you want to do a story and warn other people not to leave valuables in the car in Knowlton I would be happy to speak with Brome County News. There was method behind this — we are sure about this.

I live in Cowansville and my lady friends were visiting from Montreal and Toronto. Not so nice publicity for Knowlton...

Cowansville Stand,” an original comedy about Confederation by local playwright Roger Delamare featuring the Knowlton Players. It will be followed by a special performance by the Honeysuckle Sisters. Both performances have been generously sponsored by Arts Alive!

Museum admission is just $1.50 on Canada Day and includes a complimentary “Confederation Coffee,” a special Brome County Museum concoction that would never have been consumed by the local “teetotallers” of the era…! Kids will enjoy complimentary frozen treats with admission.

Rounding out the day on July 1 is the opening of the new Special Exhibit, “From Forest to Field: Brome County’s Agricultural Tradition,” an homage to local farms and farmers of the past, present, and future. It will be featured in the Centennial Building daily until midseptember.
